"You see, for generations, our ancestors lived to serve the Ocean King. They defended the Ocean King in an age when great evil lurked in the sea. My people forged our own weapons and fought in epic battles. You seek one of those great weapons. An artifact called the Phantom Sword."
— Zauz

Zauz is a character from The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. He is a red-haired blacksmith covered in what appear to be tattoos around his neck. Zauz resides on Zauz's Island in the World of the Ocean King. His assistance is at one point required in order to forge the Phantom Sword, the only weapon that can defeat Bellum.

Inside Zauz's house is a picture that shows Link a different shape that he can draw onto a door in the Temple of the Ocean King; in truth, this shape is the completed Triforce. Interestingly, Zauz's facial features bear striking resemblance to Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Biography

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

After the truth about Bellum is revealed by Oshus on the Ghost Ship, Link is told of a powerful sword known as the Phantom Sword, that has the power to defeat Bellum as well as his Phantoms. However, for Zauz to forge the sword, he requires the three Pure Metals, three very rare metals kept in extant locations around the World of the Ocean King. Link and Ciela eventually recover the Pure Metals; Zauz immediately begins forging the sword, but informs them that they may have to wait for a while before his work is complete.

In the meantime, Link has a final confrontation with Jolene near Zauz's Island. Upon defeating her one final time, Link returns to Zauz to find the Phantom Sword fully forged and ready for use. Link returns to Mercay Island with the sword, where Oshus combines it with the Phantom Hourglass. Using the completed Phantom Sword, Link defeats Bellum and its incarnations to restore peace to the World of the Ocean King.
