Wind Fish's Egg
from Zeldapedia, the Legend of Zelda wiki
The Wind Fish's Egg is the final dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. The egg houses a whale-like creature known as the Wind Fish and is found on top of Mount Tamaranch on Koholint Island.
Link can only enter the egg after he has acquired all eight instruments and played the "Ballad of the Wind Fish". The inside of the egg is a maze, much like the recurring Lost Woods. The directions for safe passage can be found in a library book in Mabe Village that can be read only if Link has completed the trading quest for the Magnifying Glass.
After Link defeats Dethl, the Wind Fish awakens, and Koholint Island, being only a dream of the Wind Fish, disappears, leaving only the memories behind.
[edit] Cameos
- The Wind Fish and its egg have made several cameo appearances in Nintendo games such as in Kirby Air Ride, flying around in the Frozen Hills course.
- The song "Ballad of the Wind Fish" can be played in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, although it bears no resemblance to the song of the same name in Link's Awakening.
