Reviews
Edit
The following are reviews of the Zelda games that I've played significant amounts of. I rank each the games by category and overall. Of course, excuse me to everyone who had to read my reviews prior to my de-n00bifying them, because they were absolutely terrible and make grown men cry and kittens explode.
The Legend of Zelda
Edit

Added by AuronKaizerLike Zelda II, I haven't really played enough of this to rate it fairly, but I will anyway. I do like the dungeons a lot in this game even though I've only played three of them. And I love the dungeon music, of course.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Edit

Added by AuronKaizerZelda II is the hardest game I have ever played ever and I've barely played any of it so I have no right to rate this please don't hurt me.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Edit

Added by AuronKaizerI have this for the Wii's Virtual Console, but I also have it for GBA, and since I prefer portable games out of convenience, I normally play it there. So yeah, A Link to the Past is a really goo game, but is one of the hardest Zelda games I've played. All the enemies do seem to do tons of damage, and I've had a lot of troubles with the dungeons. I have not beaten this one yet, but I plan on it...eventually.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Edit

Added by AuronKaizerLink's Awakening was my first Zelda, given to me along with a Gameboy Pocket by my aunt. I really loved the game and it's what eventually got me to buy The Minish Cap, which is the game that really got me into Zelda.
Link's Awakening has a great story and characters, and I love the "classic" Gameboy graphical style. While I particularly dislike the dungeons because of how difficult they are, the rest of the game is great and it makes up for it. At the time of writing, I'm more than halfway through this one, but I have yet to finish it.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Edit

Added by AuronKaizerOcarina of Time is, of course, a great game and a 'classic'. The gameplay is really awesome and hell, I even liked the dungeons okay. That says something, folks. I found the sidequests pretty fun as well, aside from the Skulltulas, which is just...well, eh. Whatever. Anyway, the game is obviously really great, but is no longer a favorite of mine for several reasons. One of them is that the story really just has no substance. "Link goes to Zelda. Link gets Zelda stones. Link gets sent forward in time. Ganondorf ruins Hyrule. Link gets Medallions. Link beats Ganondorf." End. There is just no story.
Anyway, as I said, the gameplay is great as is the overworld. Also, Biggoron's Sword is freakin' awesome and I liked the sidequests in this game.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Edit

Added by AuronKaizerI like Majora's Mask a lot. At the time of writing, I'm over halfway through it with just Ikana and the Stone Tower Temple remaining. I haven't really enjoyed the dungeons (though maybe that'll change with Stone Tower); however, I do love all the masks and the sidequests and the overworld gameplay, and for that it gets points. Morphing into Deku, Goron, and Zora form is a lot of awesome, and getting to use different instruments for the three doubles that level of awesome. At first I was adverse to the repeating three days thing and the time limit, but since then I've come to like it enough as a neat gameplay feature.
Also, one thing I like about this game is how you can actually USE the Fire and Ice Arrows instead of them just being tacked on, like in Ocarina. Design changes like with the Hookshot and Mirror Shield are kinda neat as well. And, of course, the game gets points for the Hylian/Terminian counterpart deal-- that's awesome.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Edit

Added by AuronKaizerThe Minish Cap was my favorite Zelda for years. Then it was Twilight Princess for a while, alternating with Ocarina of Time. However, I am now quite content in saying that The Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda.
There are very, very few things I disliked about this game. I absolutely love sailing, but I do think that having to play the "Wind's Requiem" every time you want to change directions gets a bit time-consuming. Additionally, the Wind Temple. I hated the Wind Temple. Like, I seriously, seriously hated it. A lot.
ANYWAY, one of the reasons this is my favorite game is because of the story. When I finished other Zelda games, I felt like, "Hey, this was a fun game to play", but I didn't really care for the story. It didn't effect me. The Wind Waker, on the other hand, did. The ending was flawlessly orchestrated and the story was very well done, and that's obviously something I value. Then on top of that the gameplay is amazing. I love the music in this game as well. And that is why it is my favorite.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Edit

Added by Triforce 14As previously noted, I bought The Minish Cap after loving Link's Awakening. I've played through this game to the final dungeon more times than I can count but only beaten it twice (the most recent playthroughs). The graphical style here is really great (my favorite of the handheld Zeldas) and I do enjoy the gameplay a hell of a lot. The dungeons are okay, but to be honest, I don't really like dungeons to begin with.
The Minish-size mechanic was really great and gave the game almost a second overworld. Traversing the same areas in Minish size was pretty neat, I must say. Using Ezlo as a parachute was...er, something. I really did not like the final dungeon at all, by the way, but I did like the Palace of Winds, which is funny because I know a lot of other people really hate it. I liked the whole Cloud Tops area in general because I really like the Wind theme, but most other wind/air dungeons sucked.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Edit

Added by AuronKaizerAlright, let's just cut to the chase. I don't like Phantom Hourglass. Maybe if I replay it sometime my opinion will change because I played it so long ago, but I just did not enjoy it at all. And, of course, the Temple of the Ocean King was TERRIBLE. Linebeck is this game's Golden, Shiny Wire of Hope, saving it from total abysmal death, of course. It helped absolutely nothing that I really dislike the graphical style here. Don't misunderstand-- I love cel shading, but on the DS it looks weird and rough.
On the bright side, the sailing in this game was pretty fun and I did enjoy that.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Edit

Added by AuronKaizerI really liked Twilight Princess despite the sometimes creepy graphical style and the certain parts of it that sucked. Also, THE LAKEBED TEMPLE IS 1,000,000 TIMES WORSE THAN THE WATER TEMPLE. Just thought I'd clarify. Anyway, I did enjoy the overworld gameplay in Twilight Princess a lot, and I think it might have the best Hyrule Field out of the games that I've played.
The Twilight Realm was pretty neat and as for the Wolf Link thing, that was really awesome and the game gets extra points for that. Traversing the Twilight at first was pretty fun and then becoming a lycanthrope in normal gameplay was awesome.
The dungeons were okay in general, but I disliked the Goron Mines, the Lakebed Temple is the worst dungeon in the series, and City in the Sky has way too many damn floors. Also, I fail to see why everyone loves Stallord so much. I really did not care for that fight at all. I did love Morpheel though.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Edit

Added by AuronKaizerSpirit Tracks was my re-introduction to Zelda in 2009. I had a lot of fun with this game and I'm currently towards the end of it (at the time of writing, obviously). I enjoyed the dungeons and bosses okay in this game, but I have to say one of the things I disliked was train riding. I mean, not the train riding itself, as the mechanic was well done and pretty good, but how linear it was. It takes away from that feeling of exploration that everyone loves about Zelda games. I just preferred the sailing. I will say, though, I would rather that this had been the direct sequel to TWW than PH...
