Trading Quest

Trading Quests are a recurring feature in the Legend of Zelda series. The basic trading sequence starts with Link acquiring an item, often by helping out another character. The item can then be traded to someone else who desires it, who then gives Link a new item to trade, and so on. Ultimately, a finished trading quest results in Link obtaining an exceedingly powerful weapon or magical item.
Sometimes, the completion of trading quests are required in order to complete a game. For example, the trading quest in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is a required course of action, because the item ultimately obtained — the Magnifying Lens — is needed in order to learn how to reach the final boss of the game. Other trading quests are side quests and are purely optional.
