Torch Slugs are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. These over-sized slugs are wreathed in flame, and are predominantly found in hot, fiery areas.
[edit] Appearances
[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Torch Slugs are found primarily inside the Fire Temple. They creep slowly about, but when they spot potential prey they fling themselves at it. Attacking a Torch Slug with a sword extinguishes the fire, at which point it tries to flee. If it is left alone for some time, the flame will reignite and it will return to attack. Continuing to attack the slug kills it. The slugs can be flipped onto their backs with the Megaton Hammer, keeping them from fleeing. They will nearly always drop Magic Jars when defeated.
[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Torch Slugs are somewhat smaller than their Ocarina of Time counterparts, though they are significantly less mobile. They hang from the ceiling and frequently drop down onto their prey. They can be easily killed with the sword or the Hero's Bow. Interestingly, when targeted, the Ending Blow option is always available. Despite this, however, Torch Slugs tend to attack as soon as Link uses the skill, making it one of the least reliable methods of destroying them.
