"A war between the Spirits of Good and the Demon King saw evil sealed away. The land then entrusted to the people, this princess of Hyrule traveled with the hero to save the world of Spirit Tracks. The princess's body was taken by those seeking to resurrect the Demon King, yet her spirit remained. By inhabiting the armor of a guardian of the Tower of Spirits, she used her strength to help the hero. Her massive sword deals fierce blows, and she can morph into a giant iron ball to deliver piercing attacks. By unleashing the light of her spirit, she can deal devastation to entire swaths of enemies."
Toon Zelda, Spirit Princess of Hyrule Historical Entry Tutorial Bio

Toon Zelda (トゥーンゼルダ Tūn Zeruda?, Hylian THylian OHylian OHylian NHylian ZHylian EHylian LHylian DHylian A) is an alternate version of Princess Zelda that appears in Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors Legends. She is based on Ghost Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.

Personality

Unlike her pirate grandmother Tetra, Toon Zelda was raised as a princess and member of the Royal Family of Hyrule like most incarnations of Princess Zelda. However like her grandmother, Toon Zelda has a somewhat feisty personality and she is exuberant yet temperamental. Though she remains composed most of the time, her composure quickly fade when she is angry, scared, or upset. She also has somewhat of a terrifying temper, as when she learned of Chancellor Cole's reason for stealing her body from Anjean, she literally freaked out and demanded Toon Link stop Cole in a gruff and intimidating manner.

However she is not as adventurous as her grandmother, as she initially wanted to stay behind while Toon Link saved the land of New Hyrule as per Royal Family tradition, though at the urging Anjean joined the hero on his quest. She is shown to possess the intelligence and wisdom common among her various incarnations. During the final battle with Malladus, she was responsible for coming up with a plan of attack that ultimately lead to his defeat and death.

Due to having spent most of her life in New Hyrule Castle, Toon Zelda is shown to have a desire to see the world, which she gets to do after she is turned into a Ghost.

Although she tends to make light of any dire situation, one interesting aspect of her personality is her musophobia, which manifests itself as a debilitating fear of Rats. Her fear is so great that she freezes and screams whenever she sees a one.

Background and History

Main articles: Princess Zelda and Ghost Zelda

Toon Zelda is the granddaughter of Tetra, the pirate leader who founded the Kingdom of New Hyrule and thus a descendant of the original Royal Family of Hyrule. Like her past incarnations, Toon Zelda is a princess and ruler of the kingdom of New Hyrule. During the course of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, she is separated from her body becoming Ghost Zelda. This allows her to possess various types of Phantoms. Using this ability she breaks with royal family tradition and accompanies the Link of her time on a quest to save both her kingdom and original body.

Like most DLC characters, Toon Zelda has no role in Hyrule Warriors or Hyrule Warriors Legends.

Abilities

As the Princess of New Hyrule, Toon Zelda possesses the Sacred Power of the Spirits which makes her a target for Chancellor Cole and Malladus in Spirit Tracks. While possessing a Phantom, Toon Zelda gains access to its armor, weapons, and special abilities like those possessed by the Warp Phantoms and Wrecker Phantoms. In the Hyrule Warriors series, though her Phantom appears to be a normal Phantom, it possesses Wrecker Phantom's ability to turn into an iron ball. She can also capable of unleashing Sword Beams from the Phantom's swords.

As a Phantom, Toon Zelda is stronger than in her origin body, thus allowing her to perform feats such as carrying Toon Link. In Hyrule Warriors, she can even sheath her Phantom Arms and fight using its fists as one of her combos. She is also shown to be able to leave Phantom briefly before repossessing it.
