Template:Character Mutoh is a recurring character in Template:LZS. He is the stubborn and short-tempered leader of a group of Carpenters. Mutoh is often found with his arms crossed and scoffing.

Appearances

Ocarina of Time

In Ocarina of Time, during Link's childhood, the Carpenters' Boss and his Carpenters are working on building up Kakariko Village on the orders of Impa, who hopes the village will someday be a "true city."[1] The Boss's daughter is the Cucco Lady, and he also has a son who is a defeatist outcast. The Carpenters' Boss is ashamed of his son for "sitting around all day,"[2] but the son returns the compliment by calling his father "disgusting."[3] The Carpenters' leader may also be either the son or husband of Granny, who owns one of the Potion shops.[4]

Seven years later, the Boss and his Carpenters have set up a tent in Gerudo Valley in order to restore the bridge that the Gerudo thieves have destroyed to ward off intruders.[5] However, the Carpenters' Boss is the only one remaining, as his employees have all abandoned him to join the Gerudo thieves.[6] The female bandits reject the lazy Carpenters, instead holding them prisoner in separate cells throughout their fortress. Link frees them all, and after a scolding from their leader, the Carpenters rebuild the bridge in Gerudo Valley.[7]

The Carpenters' Boss also plays a role in the Biggoron's Sword Trading Sequence. After giving him the Poacher's Saw that his son left behind in the Lost Woods, he gives Link his Broken Goron's Sword.

Majora's Mask

In Majora's Mask, Mutoh is the head of the Clock Town Carnival Committee in charge of constructing the fireworks-viewing tower for the Carnival of Time. During the first days, Mutoh is in the Mayor's Office, arguing with Captain Viscen about whether or not to flee the town in the wake of the impending Moon. Link can use the Couple's Mask obtained from Anju and Kafei to stop the argument, earning him a Piece of Heart.

Most of the time, Mutoh maintains watch over the building of the tower, while the other Carpenters are working on supplies and construction. At night of the Final Day, he stands at the foot of the completed tower, after the other Carpenters have abandoned him and the town, yelling at the Moon, "If you're gonna fall, then fall already!"[8]

He indicates that he has some sons who have already fled the town.[9] He also wonders about the location of his wife (whether she has fled or gone missing is undetermined) and dislikes Kafei for going missing and compares him to his sons.[10][9]

Oracle of Ages

In Oracle of Ages, Mutoh appears with his Carpenters in the Nuun Highlands, where they are repairing a bridge that connects to Symmetry Village. However, all of his Carpenters have run off and are missing, and he asks Link to find them. Link must call for the aide of one of his animal companions to help locate them, as the landscape of Nuun Highlands is harsh and changes according to Link's companion.

The Minish Cap

In The Minish Cap, Mutoh and his Carpenters appear in Hyrule Town. By fusing certain Kinstone pieces, they will construct various buildings all over town. Before they are found, Mutoh, Doyle, and Mack serve to block off areas in the Eastern Hills.
