"Nice to see there's still hope here. And it's always good to see happy results repay your efforts... Those skills of yours... Any chance you're of the mind to put them to use for Hyrule? What hope there is in our kingdom is frail and dying...but there's still a group trying to do what it can. And I'm a member of that group. Call me Telma."
— Telma

Telma is a character from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. She is the owner of a bar in Hyrule Castle Town. She aids Link during the process of restoring Ilia's memories, and journeys with him to take the girl and Prince Ralis to Kakariko Village. Telma has the appearance of a middle-aged woman, with a motherly figure. She also has a flirtatious and bawdy personality, and it is slightly implied that she is attracted to Renado. The members of The Resistance, committed to restoring Hyrule to its original glory, meet at Telma's Bar for their meetings.

Telma has a persian cat named Louise, who, among the animals, is known for knowing everything that happens in Hyrule Castle Town.

[edit] Biography

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Telma takes in both Ilia and Prince Ralis the Zora, after Doctor Borville cannot treat Ilia's amnesia and simply refuses to help Ralis. Link helps her out by escorting her, Ilia and Ralis to Kakariko Village, where Renado can aid them.

After the Escort Mission, Telma remains in Kakariko Village until Link completes the Lakebed Temple. From then on, she remains in the bar and will give Link hints on where to find shards of the Mirror of Twilight. During the quest to restore Ilia's memory, she gives Link an invoice, detailing Doctor Borville's astronomical bar tab.

[edit] Possible origins

Theory warning: This section contains theoretical information based on the viewpoints or research of one or several other users. It has not been officially verified by Nintendo and its factual accuracy is disputed.

Telma bears a striking resemblance to the Gerudo women of the past, and the The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons depictions of Impa. Her dress also has a pattern that looks like the Gerudo Symbol. On the converse side, the Gerudo are known to have rounded ears, while Telma has pointed ears common to Hylians.

Theory warning: Theories end here.

[edit] Etymology

Both Telma and Louise's names are presumably references to the road movie Thelma & Louise.
