[edit] Biography

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

At the beginning of the game, his daughter Marin finds Link unconscious on the beaches of Koholint Island and brings him to their house. When Link wakes up, Tarin gives Link his shield, from which he'd learned Link's name.

Tarin as he appears in-game

At many points in the game, Tarin is encountered in various areas of the island, often getting himself into troublesome and humorous situations. After Link has retrieved his Hero's Sword, Tarin has gotten lost in the Mysterious Woods and transformed into a raccoon. Link breaks the curse placed on him with Magic Powder. Tarin has no recollection of what happened to him and surmises that it was a dream. Later, Tarin is encountered in Ukuku Prairie, attempting to bring down a Honeycomb from a tree. Link lends him a stick, and Tarin uses it to knock the Honeycomb down. Tarin angers the bees and quickly flees out of sight.

In the ending sequence, Tarin can be seen picking Mushrooms in the Mysterious Woods, shortly before the dream dissolves and Koholint disappears.
