|First appearance||Skyward Sword (2011)|
Strich is a character from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Along with his roommate Cawlin, he is one of Groose's lackeys, and can often be seen standing beside him or flanking him; however, he appears to be on friendly terms with Link when not acting in this capacity. In his spare time, Strich indulges in his hobby of collecting bugs.
Strich is first seen together with Groose and Cawlin in the southwestern part of Skyloft. Link's Crimson Loftwing has gone missing, and Link suspects Groose and his crew are involved in order to sabotage his winning chances. He eventually recovers his Loftwing, which had been hidden and imprisoned on the underside of Skyloft. During the bird race that takes place as part of the Wing Ceremony, Strich attempts to stop Link from obtaining the Bird Statue; however, he ultimately fails in this.
Subsequently, Strich may be found at the Lumpy Pumpkin during the day, and in his and Cawlin's room in the Knight Academy at night. Strich will buy from Link any bugs he has found; however, he only accepts three randomly selected variety of bugs a day for varying amounts of Rupees. When Link completes a transaction, Strich refers to Link as "mantis face", used as an affectionate term, as he says he likes mantises. Gully later remarks that Strich has given him pointers on catching bugs.
After Link frees Levias from the control of Bilocyte, Strich can be found on Bug Rock during the day, noticing the surplus of bugs native to the island. Here, he runs the Bug Heaven mini-game. Later, Beedle loses his insect cage which houses his prized Horned Colossus Beetle. Strich, realizing the rarity of the beetle, finds and claims it as his own. After being told by Link that the Horned Colossus Beetle belongs to Beedle, Strich promises to give it to Link if he can clear a round of Bug Heaven in under three minutes.
As many residents of Skyloft seem to be named after birds, it is possible that Strich is named after the ostrich.
