Template:Character Lana is a playable character in Hyrule Warriors. She is a sorceress with light-blue hair armed with a book of magic that she uses to cast barriers to disperse enemies. She is described as a very energetic girl with a vast knowledge of magic and monsters.

Biography

Lana was originally part of one being, Cia,[1] a powerful sorceress who was tasked with maintaining the balance of the Triforce.[2] Cia however, able to observe distant eras and those who lived in them with her magic,[3] had became infatuated with Link[4] and in turn jealous of Princess Zelda.[5] Her preoccupied thoughts left her vulnerable as she was approached by a spiritual fragment of darkness, belonging to Ganondorf, who saw an opening in using her.[6] As a result, Cia became corrupted as the light from her soul was pushed away, which formed into its own personality becoming Lana.[7][8] Like Cia, she too also harbored affections for Link.

While Cia became the corrupted, wicked side of her former self, Lana became the virtuous side. Cia had opened the Gate of Souls to wage war over Hyrule,[9] compelled by the darkness to acquire the full Triforce and to revive Ganondorf.[10] Lana had retreated to the forests of Faron Woods, becoming the leader of a band of resistance fighters and determined to end Cia's machinations no matter the cost.

The Hyrulean Forces later meet Lana at the Faron Woods after hearing rumors of a resistance in the forest led by a young woman,[11] and arrive hoping it is Princess Zelda,[12] who had went missing shortly after the wars began. Lana becomes of interest when Impa learns that she is a sorcerer from the same clan as Cia,[13] but Lana says she'll only tell more if the Hyrulean Forces help her to defend the forest.[14] Link, Impa and Sheik help Lana to defend the forest from the monster troops and defeat the Gohma Wizzro sends. With the forest base protected, Lana travels with the Hyrulean Forces to the Valley of Seers where Cia awaits.

After the battle at the Valley of Seers, Link and Sheik confront Cia, but she is able to steal their Triforce of Courage and Triforce of Wisdom. With the full Triforce now in her possession, Cia then uses the Gate of Souls to summon entire worlds from other ages and merges them into present-day Hyrule. To escape the effects of this, Lana flees with the group and has them stand around her as she casts a protective barrier around them and watch the fusion take place. Three of Ganondorf's scattered fragments are freed in this process, and return to Cia, leaving only one fragment left sealed by the Master Sword.[15] Three Gates of Souls are also opened in the new worlds, and the Hyrulean Forces then resolve to close these gates and split up, with Lana heading into one of the portals.

Lana had stepped into the Twilight Field, and was surprised to find how densely covered in shadow it was.[16] Although her magic could not see the cause of the growing Twilight,[17] she sought out to free the village from the monsters invading it.[18] Early in the battle, she hears a cry for help, and tracks it down to find Agitha surrounded by Bulblins which Lana easily defeats. Although Agitha doesn't know what a Gate of Souls is, she promises to help Lana locate it with the help of her Goddess Butterfly to guide their way.[19] Agitha joins the Allies as she and Lana fight through, until they are suddenly stopped by Midna who seizes possession of the butterfly. Upon learning that the butterfly can guide to anywhere it is asked to, Midna decides to use it to find Cia,[20] who had cursed Midna prior and turned her into an imp.[21] With the butterfly now gone, Lana was forced to fight Midna and her troops to get it back. She manages to defeat Midna. After learning they're not with Cia,[22] Midna joins them to close the Gate of Souls. The group then travels to the Palace of Twilight, and after defeating Zant, leaves to close the Gate of Souls there. Cia however reappears, who after insulting Midna's new look, gets hit by her which knocks her mask off and reveals her face as identical to Lana's.[23] As Cia leaves, Lana is forced to explain her story to a confused Midna.

The group later reunites after closing the three Gates, and Lana explains herself to everyone else as well. They head to the Temple of the Sacred Sword, where they find that Link's and Zelda's Triforce pieces have returned, unbeknownst to them because Ganondorf had tried to take the pieces from Cia. Lana is confident that with Cia's power diminished it is the time to counterattack, but Impa disagrees as Cia still has the Triforce of Power.[24] Zelda suggests that Link retrieves the Master Sword, though Impa expresses concern as the Master Sword is also a barrier to keep evil locked away.[25] Lana however believes the temple's magic will be enough to repel the evil,[26] and eagerly believes Link can do this. The Hyrulean Forces then fight to retrieve the sword, defeating Wizzro in the process, and leaves to fight Cia again at the Temple of Souls. When Link becomes surrounded by the Dark Links Cia summons, Lana is the first to appear to his aid, followed by the rest of the Allies as the Dark Links are all defeated.

At the Valley of Seers, the Allies prepare for the final battle against Cia. Cia over exerts herself in using her life force to power her troops as as well as her own,[27] which causes Lana pain as pleads her to stop.[28] Link however manages to defeat the dark sorceress, and Lana rushes to her side. The two admit to each other that neither one will get Link's affection,[29] though Lana accepts this,[30] and Cia fades away as she leaves her Triforce of Power to Lana's possession. Lana then sends the new Allies back to their respective eras, and with the combined power of Link's, Zelda's and her Triforce pieces, returns Hyrule back it what it was. Zelda asks if they'll ever see Lana again, but she sadly bids them good-bye and leaves to close the Valley of Seers' Gate of Souls. The returned peace however is only short-lived when Ganondorf's final fragment is freed by the earlier removal of the Master Sword, and now revived, plots to build an army to take the Triforce.

Having built his stronghold at Gerudo Desert and summoned Ghirahim and Zant, he moved to take Lana's Triforce piece.[31] Lana tried to escape him, but was cornered at the Valley of Seers.[32] Even with Impa's and the Hyrulean Forces' aid, Lana was outmatched, and attempted to flee by splitting herself into two[33] and running to a pair of Magic Circles.[34] Ganondorf however beats both of her doubles, and seizes the Triforce of Power from her possession. He then marches to Hyrule Field, where he defeats Link and Zelda and acquires the full Triforce.

Regrouped, the Hyrulean Forces then plan to defeat Ganondorf by first taking over his stronghold at Gerudo Desert. Lana becomes cornered by enemy troops, and in an act of desperation summons her Allies back from their eras. The Hyrulean Forces conquer the stronghold, and march back to Ganon's Tower to fight Ganondorf. Link fights and defeats him, but he transforms into Ganon to wage destruction. Link however defeats him again, and the Triforce's pieces are returned to Link, Zelda and Lana. Using their combined pieces they send Ganon away, bringing peace back to Hyrule. Lana tells Link to return the Master Sword to its temple,[35] and insists that only Link and Zelda should do it together.[36] She bids Link good-bye a final time, and the Master Sword is returned to its place, keeping Ganondorf sealed yet again.

Abilities

Lana is primarily a spell-caster, using a magic tome she carries to attack and cast spells. When used normally, Lana is able to manipulate the pages of her book to strike her enemies. She also has access to a variety of spells. One of the most prominent is conjuration of barriers which can take a variety of shapes. Lana can create walls that surround enemies, shove them away like a bulldozer, or even conjure a cube-shaped barrier that she can roll to plow through hordes. These barriers can also be shattered through either sustaining damage or Lana choosing to do so herself. Doing so causes damage to many enemies though Lana can also be harmed by her own barriers shattering. She also has access to lightning spells which she can use to either damage enemies directly or shatter her barriers. Despite being a sorceress, Lana is extremely athletic, bounding and leaping with ease across the battlefield. When using her barriers she can jump off them for astounding acrobatic feats, traversing the battlefield swiftly.

Her second weapon is the Spear, primarily used as a medium for manipulating trees and plant life, as well as being able to conjure Deku Trees and sprouts with it. Alternatively, it can change form to allow her to use the Deku Leaf, an over sized Slingshot, and the Deku Shield. It also allows her the usage of water and ice spells.

Her third weapon type is the Summoning Gate. Similar to the Spear, Lana is able to summon creatures to fight for her though they are primarily enemies such as Dodongos, Gohma, and even Argorok. Lana will also dance and hum songs when using the Summoning Gate.
