- "Its internal muscle is its weak point!"

Shell Blades are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They are clam-like enemies that attack by charging at Link and, shortly thereafter, retreating into their shells to defend themselves. Link can defeat them by harming the sensitive muscles inside their shell when they are exposed.
In Ocarina of Time, Shell Blades are found in the Water Temple and in the Gerudo's Training Ground; they are only ever found underwater. When they spot Link, they open their shells wide (leaving themselves open to attack by the Hookshot, which can kill them in one hit) before clamping shut, spinning round, and dashing at Link, repeatedly slicing their back spikes through the water before sinking back to the ground.

In Majora's Mask, Shell Blades can be found in the Pirates' Fortress, at the bottom of the Great Bay, and inside the Great Bay Temple. They can only be defeated while Link is wearing the Zora Mask since Link cannot sink to the floor without it. While wearing the Zora Mask, Link can use his fins like swords to cut the muscles inside the Shell Blades.

Shell Blades are found in underwater areas as well as the Lakebed Temple. They are larger than in previous games; sizeable enough to swallow Link whole. They attack by rushing at Link front-first to try and trap him in their shells; when successful, they snap their shells shut with distinctive bangs. If they miss, they cower in their shells until they have the strength to launch another attack. This type of Shell Blade is vulnerable even when attacking. This, along with the additional fact that Link can use weapons other than his Clawshot underwater, makes them easier to defeat than in previous games, as Link can stun one using the Clawshot before attacking with his sword.
