This is not going to work well in its current state...

This table's intentions are good, but there's one pretty glaring flaw with it: It works under the assumption that all Spanish and French names in it are identical between the North American and European releases. Well, I decided to look up the European text dump for Phantom Hourglass (just so you know, I rarely go and look up European text dumps, primarily due to my familiarity with North American resources) and look up names for the Cobble Knights, a page that appears would benefit from this template, and compare Spanish and French there to what I'd previously observed firsthand from the North American version. First name looked up, that of Brant--not identical between NA and EU in either Spanish or French. Same is true for Bremeur. The European text dumps cut off before they get to Doylan's and Max's names, so I couldn't look those up, but what I was able to dig up is solid proof that a template that assumes Spanish and French names are the same between NA and EU just isn't going to cut it in the long run...--Shiningpikablu252 22:26, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Not all pages using this, plus redlinks from renaming, etc.

So, since the recent renaming of images like File:Canadian Flag.png to File:Canada Flag.png, File:Jabber Nut MC.gif to File:TMC Jabber Nut Sprite.gif, and Japan Flag.png existing alongside JPflag.png, I'm sure it's been noticed that even though this and Template:Names have been updated, pages that don't use these templates now have redlinks (e.g. refer to the 'What links here' for File:JPflag.png and the redlinks from the former file names). I would change JPflag.png to Japan Flag.png on pages, but I notice that either the page is protected so I can't edit, is on someone's userpage, or it is part of a manually coded Names Table with more than 6 columns - which I try to follow "To use this template, copy the following. Use the tabs to select the number and type of name fields needed. For more than six names, consider linking to the translation pages (example A) or, if necessary, use the template twice to make two rows (example B).", but either notice the translation page doesn't have the translations(?) or I don't understand "use the template twice", since the example page seems outdated.

As I'm typing up this topic, Hidden Skill has been updated via the first method for >6 columns, but the translation page isn't updated with Spanish and French that the now-removed table had (yet, I guess). Same for Mogma, for Italian.

Also, are we to change the gif and jpg to png files?

There is a long-term plan for dealing with the flags, but my attempts at moving things around has largely been to get a sense of direction for how to best handle it.

The staff are going to be manually sweeping through Translation pages to add and verify names. When this is done, the translation pages will be locked to all non-staff to prevent misinformation and these names will be added to the pages they relate to. The only game in which this has been worked on, however, is Tri Force Heroes. We cannot yet address Twilight Princess as it is not a high priority at the moment, though rest assured that the proper names will be added when the staff have gotten to it.

I see, it's going through a overhaul (long-term plan), and if it might seem 'incorrect', but it's more like putting up scaffolding? Well, I was thinking of the See [[The Wind Waker Translations/Characters#Rito|here]], where #Rito doesn't exist - That is, perhaps it will stay as Main, Supporting, Other Characters, or have a function to isolate the Rito characters, or neither, to be decided?

By the way, since I mentioned it, I don't understand this alternative, nor the example: "or, if necessary, use the template twice to make two rows (example B).".

Since it's a bit related also, I believe the headings order should be ...Trivia, Etymology, Gallery, See Also, References last? Where is the official/full order for an article's headings written down?

That link was intentional. The Wind Waker's Translation page still need the staff overhaul.

The documentation on the Names Table template needs updating. I would not advocate using it twice, and instead suggest leaving the list of translations to the translation page and/or splitting the page.

A collection of page guidelines can be found on this post, but yeah, that order would be optimal. - Tony^{T S C} 06:29, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
