- "Say, wasn't there going to be a sword-fighting tournament at the castle? I wonder who won this year..."
- — Princess Zelda
The Picori Festival Tournament is an event from The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. Taking place once a year during the annual Picori Festival in Hyrule Town, the Picori Festival Tournament is a sword-fighting competition. The winner of the tournament is awarded with a new sword, as well as the honor of being able to touch the legendary Picori Blade.
During the events of The Minish Cap, Vaati wins the Picori Festival Tournament. Expecting to find the Light Force within the Bound Chest, Vaati breaks the Picori Blade when he gets the opportunity to touch it. He is disappointed to find, however, that the Light Force is not in the chest. Princess Zelda's powers are then revealed, leading Vaati to turn her into stone to keep her from causing him trouble later.
Little is known about the history surrounding the Picori Festival Tournament, but some past winners are revealed in The Minish Cap. Vaati is the most recent winner, and his victory spins into a chain reaction that becomes the game's plot. Also, it is revealed that every single one of the Blade Brothers won the tournament in the past. Interestingly, King Daltus and Smith are stated to have fought to a draw in the tournament's final round a long time ago. Finally, the Crenel Hermit brags about winning the Picori Festival Tournament as a youth.
