Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The Phantom Sword is the sword Link acquires in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass after going to the blacksmith, Zauz, with all three Pure Metals, Aquanine, Azurine, and Crimsonine. Zauz can only make the blade of it, though, and in order to finish the sword it must be combined with the Phantom Hourglass itself with the help of Oshus. It was the only sword that can destroy the Phantom Guardians and their evil creator Bellum.

The Phantom Sword seems to be very similar to the Master Sword in many respects. For one, both handles are blue and have similar looking blades. Another is that both are sacred swords which destroys evil (similar to how the Master Sword is the only weapon that can destroy Ganon, the Phantom sword is the only sword that can defeat Bellum). The major difference seems to be that the Phantom sword can be wielded by others than just Link, as demonstrated by Linebeck, and the Phantom sword can either by being corroded by time or split back into the sacred metals that created it. The separate hilt and blade is quite strange, as the blades of real swords are built into the hilt for several reasons.

Zauz also hints that he has, or had another Phantom Sword in his possesion long ago, but what became of it is unknown. He also states that the Phantom Sword is the strongest of a line of weapons made to fight evil, hinting that there may be a large variety of weapons to fight Bellum, as well as the possibility of many Phantom Swords existing at some point.
