"You know those eyeball monster things? They're called Phantom Eyes. If you draw a line to a Phantom Eye, I can teleport straight there! That sounds sooooo nice! I'll never have to walk anywhere again!"
Princess Zelda

Phantom Eyes are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They are small airborne eyes that act as sentries. They are extremely perceptive and have very good vision; when they see Link, they will alert nearby Phantoms, sometimes summoning another, and charge at Link, eventually sticking to him in order to slow him down. The player then has to rub the touch screen with the stylus to make them let go of Link.

Phantom Eyes always move in set patrol routes when they are not attentive to Link's whereabouts. They can be stunned using several items, which both prevents them from alerting Phantoms and allows Link to dispose of them with a sword or other volatile weapon. Alternatively, Link can use the Spin Attack or Great Spin Attack when they are charging towards him.

Appearances Edit

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Edit

Phantom Eyes are found within the Temple of the Ocean King. If the Phantom Eyes see Link, they will make a bell-like sound, which will alert all Phantoms of Link's presence.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks Edit

Phantom Eyes wander the higher floors of the Tower of Spirits, acting as sentries. If a Phantom Eye spots Link, a Warp Phantom is summoned to the area. These enemies can be stunned with the Whirlwind and Boomerang. They act much like they do in Phantom Hourglass. When Princess Zelda possesses a Warp Phantom, she can warp to a Phantom Eye by drawing a line to one. Some Phantom Eyes also regenerate a while after being defeated. Oddly enough, there is a button in the floors under the altar that actually causes both a Warp Phantom and two Phantom Eyes to appear.
