[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
The first appearance of a Mushroom is in Link's Awakening. Here, it can be found in the Mysterious Woods. It is needed for Syrup the witch to complete her brew of Magic Powder, which is needed to transform Tarin back to his original shape and remove the spell on the forest.
[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
A special type of mushroom called the Odd Mushroom can be given to Link by Grog in the Lost Woods. Link must get it to Granny in the Kakariko Potion Shop in under three minutes. She will use it to brew Blue Potion. The Odd Mushroom is an item in the quest for Biggoron's Sword.

In Majora's Mask, Mushrooms can be found with the help of the Mask of Scents, which is obtained in the Southern Swamp. A strange mushroom can be found in the performer's room at the Stock Pot Inn. If Link puts this mushroom in a bottle, it can be given to Kotake who will in exchange make Blue Potions for Link to buy.
