Morths are enemies from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. They are small, round beasts, each with a single multicolored eye in the middle of their black bodies and covered with orange spikes, which they use to attach themselves to Link. They are most often found in forested areas and are sometimes spawned by Mothulas.
Morths cannot actually cause direct damage to Link. They 'attack' by leaping at him when he moves and latching onto his body, making it difficult for him to move. The more Morths there are attached to Link, the harder it is for Link to move. This makes it much easier for other enemies to attack and damage Link.
Morths are extremely weak creatures that can be defeated by a single blow from most of Link's weapons. When they latch onto Link, he can simply shake them off by rolling or using a Spin Attack, which will usually kill most Morths attached to Link. Another weakness of Morths is that, because of their light weight, they can be blasted away easily with the Deku Leaf. However, Morths do have one defensive ability which many other enemies do not: they can float on top of water rather than drowning as many other monsters do.
