The Mermaid Suit is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. "The skin of the mythical beast", the Mermaid Suit is an upgrade for the Flippers and allows Link to swim and dive in deep water as well as boosting his swimming speed considerably. It is found in the sixth dungeon, Mermaid's Cave. The Mermaid Suit allows Link to swim in the sea and even explore the seabed by diving. He will also be able to swim against currents that were far too strong to tackle with the Flippers only.
The control-scheme changes slightly from the Flippers once the Mermaid Suit has been collected. The player must tap the control pad to swim rather than holding it in. The A-button will allow the player to use items underwater such as the Switch Hook and the sword. The B-button is used for diving and resurfacing.
