The Megaton Hammer is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It is a large hammer that was once used by the Mythical Goron Hero to kill the evil dragon, Volvagia. It is found by Link in the Fire Temple, and can be used to smash boulders, knock in rusted switches, kill enemies, and defeat the resurrected Volvagia. Link can also use the Megaton Hammer to attack Ganon when he temporarily loses the Master Sword. Interestingly, the Megaton Hammer can be used to reveal hidden entrances to grottos in lieu of bombs.

The Megaton Hammer can be swung sideways by flicking the control stick to the side. A jump attack is also possible, but due to a glitch, it may not do any actual damage to specific enemies (such as a Gold Skulltula).

Thanks to the Megaton Hammer's sheer strength and weight, the shockwave it creates on impact can prove to have devastating effects on enemies: Skullwalltulas will drop dead to the ground if it smashes the ground anywhere near them, Tektites and Torch Slugs will be flipped on their backs and Business Scrubs will be instantly forced out of the ground.

The Megaton Hammer is one of Link's weapon choices. It can be bought in chapters 3 and 5 for 1200 gold. It has shorter reach, due to its size in Ocarina of Time. Its power and toughness, however, exceed that of any sword.
