The Medusa Head is the boss of the Sword & Shield Maze, the eighth and final dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. She guards the Changing Seasons, the last of the eight Essences of Nature. She is the only boss fought in the subterranean land of Subrosia, and the only boss besides Onox who had not appeared in an earlier game.
[edit] Battle
In battle, the Medusa Head shoots fireballs from her mouth and lasers from her eyes. In order to defeat her, dodge her fireball and laser attacks by standing along the lower wall of the room and using the Roc's Cape to dodge her attacks. As soon as she moves to the middle of the room, she can be attacked with the sword, and it takes 25-30 hits with the Hero's Sword to defeat her.

[edit] Etymology
The Medusa Head appears to be based on Medusa, a creature from Greek mythology. Medusa is at one point decapitated by the hero Perseus, and her head was later thrown into the sea.
