Empty bottles are probably the most useful item in The Legend of Zelda games. These bottles, can be found by doing certain sidequests, or just by finding them in certain hidden areas. Some need to be obtained to progress through the game. An empty bottle is an item that is used for storing other items like water, potions, fairies, poes, Chu Jelly, milk, fish, bugs, and other various things. In most games, you are only able to collect four bottles, however Majora's Mask has six.

You can convert useless items into bottles, too. The downside is they're only good for items you catch and use manually (fish, fairies, blue flame and bugs). To convert a useless item, swing a real bottle at something you can catch in it, press the Start button at mid-swing and swap the bottle on the C icon with the useless C item and return to gameplay. Remember, merchants and cows do not acknowledge converted bottles, and fairies do not uncork themselves to heal Link if he dies.
