Nabooru is the second-highest ranked Gerudo thief in Ocarina of Time who opposes Ganondorf. She is found in the Spirit Temple searching for the Silver Gauntlets. The other Gerudo women think highly of her.

Link meets Nabooru as a child. She then strikes a deal with Link promising to give him 'something really great' if he could crawl through a small hole and retrieve the Silver Gauntlets. After obtaining them, Link witnesses Nabooru being abducted by the Gerudo witches, (Koume and Kotake).

Link returns to the Spirit Temple as an adult to save her. He eventually discovers that she has been brainwashed by the two witches and has become an Iron Knuckle. Link cuts the armor off her, letting her regain free will, and then moves on to defeat the witches.

After being saved Nabooru awakens as the Sage of Spirit and states that she regrets not keeping her promise to Link as a child, hinting that she is taken by Link.

Her role in the manga is slightly different to in the game. She is under the influence of Koume and Kotake but not transformed into an Iron Knuckle. She is sent to spy on Sheik which results in her combating Link. Link frees her from the influence which allows her to help release the other Gerudo. She also gives Link the Mirror Shield, which she claims she stole a while back.

Nabooru's Promise
It is unclear as to what Nabooru actually intended to do when Link fufilled his end of the bargain. Given what she says in the Chamber of Sages, it is theorized that she intended to arrange a marriage with Link. If this theory held true, then it would be likely an arranged marrige, not undertaken while Link was still a child. This is the most commonly accepted theory of what Nabooru's promise was. Other theories extend from that she was making an empty promise to that she would name Link her second in command.

Notes
A town by the name of Nabooru was seen in the later days of Hyrule, in Adventure of Link.
