Mad Scrubs are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They are a species of Deku that are aggressive to anything that encounters them. They attack things from a distance using Deku Nuts and retreat into the ground if their target gets too close. They are distinct among Deku species in that they are covered in red-orange leaves.

Mad Scrubs can be found primarily in the Sacred Forest Meadow as child Link. They guard the path to Saria and constantly bombard Link as he travels to see her, firing three shots at a time. When Link returns as an adult, the Mad Scrubs appear to have been chased out by Moblins, and have taken up residence in Kokiri Forest.

Mad Scrubs can be found in Woodfall, Deku Palace, and Southern Swamp. They are identical in appearance to the Mad Scrubs in Ocarina of Time, but they fire Deku Nuts at a much slower rate, seeing as there are no "normal" Deku Scrub enemies in the game due to Termina's Deku Scrub society. The nuts can prove to be a problem for Deku Link because they can arch through the air to hit him, but if Deku Link hovers above them and drops a Deku Bomb, they are easily dispatched.
