The Lanayru Province is the central and biggest province of Hyrule. It is located west (east for Wii) of the Eldin Province, and east (west) of Peak Province. It is home of the Zora race and the Royal Family. It has the largest population of all the provinces, and it seems to be Hyrule's Capital Territory. The province is named after Lanayru. In the center of the province is Hyrule Castle and Hyrule Castle Town. The province also contains Zora's River, Zora's Domain, and Lake Hylia.

Lanayru Province is the very place where the Hylian race began. Many of the major events in their history took place here, following the founding of the royal family and their building of Hyrule Castle Town. This province is also the area where the Zoras come from, where they prosper in Zora's Domain in the north.
