Gouen (豪炎 Gōen?, Great Flame), also called Master Flame, is the boss of the Death Mountain, the third stage in The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords. This fire-consumed entity shows significant resemblance to Flare Dancer, a mini-boss from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Battle Edit

Gouen

Gouen resembles a large ball of fire that shoots large colored fireballs. The color of its projectile will correspond with one of the 1-4 colored Links. In order to damage the boss, the appropriate Link must use his sword to reflect the fireball back at it. The boss will then split into small pillars of fire, which in turn must be attacked. Destroying all of the fire pillars reveals its true form. After the Links attack its vulnerable form, the process repeats until the boss is defeated. After defeating the boss, the portal to the Great Fairy of Flame opens.

If any Link is hit by a fire ball or pillar of fire, he will run around uncontrollably for a few seconds, preventing him from attacking.
