[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The Goron Mask in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is one of four special masks rewarded to Link for completing the Happy Mask side quest. It has no special features and is mostly used for comedic purposes such as getting odd reactions from other people.

The Gorons are seemingly fooled by the mask and say that Link has to eat green rocks to grow up big and strong. The exception is Darunia, who says "You're making me mad!". A very similar reaction happens when Link shows the Zora King the Zora Mask.

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Link in his Goron form
"Darmani! You... You are alive. You always did say, "I cannot die until I've eaten 1000 tons of rock sirloin!""
— A Goron

The Goron Mask in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is much different than the version in Ocarina of Time.

[edit] Obtaining

After Link gets the Lens of Truth, he can see Darmani's ghost in Goron Village. When Darmani meets Link, he explains "the feathered one" said the one who could see him would arrive. He then leads Link to his tomb in Mountain Village. After telling his story, Darmani asks to heal his sorrows - and by playing the "Song of Healing", Darmani is put to rest and leaves Link the Goron Mask imbued with his spirit. It allows Link to impersonate Darmani and attack using all of Darmani's famed methods. When using the Ocarina of Time in this form, Link will take out drums instead.

[edit] Powers

This mask turns Link into Darmani, the famed Goron warrior. When Link is in his Goron form, he is impervious to damage from lava, but cannot survive deeper waters. Link fights without a sword; instead using slow, heavy punches that emit purely aesthetic shock waves through the air. Goron Link can curl up into a ball by holding down the A button, then pound the ground by pressing the B button. Goron Link's defensive posture involves curling into the fetal position, face down, guarded by the Goron's ossified back. Holding the A button and continuously pushing control stick in a direction causes Link's Goron form to roll at high speeds, sprouting spikes that will damage enemies and destructible objects in his path, though doing this depletes the magic meter. The high-speed roll is used most often to jump certain ramps which are placed strategically throughout the game for this purpose.

Link also gains the ability to play the Drums of Sleep, needed for calming the Goron Elder's Son and removing the obstruction blocking the way to Snowhead Temple.

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

The Goron Mask, along with the All-Night Mask, Bunny Hood and Keaton Mask, can be seen on a wall behind Carlov in the Nintendo Gallery.
