[edit] Biography

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

When Link arrives in the boss room, the gargantuan Goht is encased in a block of ice. Link must melt the ice with a Fire Arrow, thawing the ice and releasing the enraged Goht.

Upon its defeat, Link retrieves Goht's Remains and a Heart Container. The second Giant is also released. The curse of eternal winter is ended, and spring returns to Snowhead.

Spoiler warning: Spoilers end here.

[edit] Battle

After being thawed out, Goht will start to stampede around its circular arena. It has several attacks, including charging, firing lightning bolts from its horns, shaking stalactites from the ceiling, and throwing bombs. It starts off by simply charging and using the lightning bolts but it will drop the stalactites and subsequently bombs after taking certain amounts of damage. To defeat it, Link must transform into his Goron form and roll into it at full power, causing the magical spikes to damage the bull. It is also possible for Link to defeat Goht by shooting arrows at it or Link can wear the Fierce Deity Link to damage Goht, via the bursts of energy from his sword; however, both methods are difficult to do, as Goht runs around the entire room, making it difficult for Link to inflict a substantial amount of damage as it passes by.

When it has been damaged several times, Goht will malfunction and run into a wall, causing the ceiling to fall down on it and burying it under the rocks.

Non-canon warning: This article or section contains non-canonical information that is not considered to be an official part of the Legend of Zelda series and should not be considered part of the overall storyline.

Goht appears in the official Majora's Mask manga as well. Its story differs slightly from the game, as it resides outside Snowhead Temple rather than frozen inside it, and it is attributed with Darmani's death as well.

When Link goes to fight Goht in Darmani's place, he uses Darmani's strength to stop the charging Goht and throw it off the side of the mountain, taking its remains and freeing the second Giant in the process.
