The Gerudo Fortress is a location from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It is the hideout for the Gerudo band of thieves, located between Gerudo Valley and the Haunted Wasteland. As an adult, Link travels to the Gerudo Fortress on the way to the Spirit Temple. When Link is first spotted by one of the Gerudo, however, he is thrown into a jail (if Link does not have the means to escape he is thrown out on the opposite side of the bridge in Gerudo Valley). Using the Hookshot to escape, Link has to sneak through the Fortress and rescue the four Carpenters being held prisoner inside. Once all the Carpenters are freed, the Third-in-command Gerudo appears and gives Link a Gerudo Membership Card, which makes him an honorary member of the Gerudo, and allows him to move freely throughout the Fortress. After becoming an honorary member, Link can participate in the archery mini-game at the Horseback Archery Range and enter the Gerudo Training Ground. Also, the Haunted Wasteland becomes accessible.
