Gekkos are mini-bosses from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. They are amphibious monsters encountered twice; one in Woodfall Temple and another in Great Bay Temple. Gekkos are fast movers, and Link must combine his sword skills and timing to get in any hits at all. When in battle, Gekkos will often call in reinforcements after a few hits. When Gekkos are defeated, they turn into normal frogs.

[edit] Snapper

In the Woodfall Temple, a Gekko is the mini-boss. As an aid in combat, the Gekko calls in a Snapper, a turtle-like enemy, to be his mount. To defeat the Snapper, the average techniques are performed, either by using Bombs or jumping out of a Deku Flower the exact moment the Snapper is over the pad. Once the two are separated, Gekko can be shot down from the ceiling using arrows.

[edit] Mad Jelly

A Gekko is encountered a second time as one of the mini-bosses found in the Great Bay Temple. In this battle, the Gekko will fight alongside Mad Jelly rather than a Snapper. The Mad Jelly will detach itself from the ceiling and try to crush Link with its fall. To avoid this, it must be frozen with the Ice Arrows, allowing Link to attack the Gekko with his sword or arrows.
