I've heard "Nope, only the Master Sword can kill Ganondorf", but I've also heard "He can be killed by other means, but it'll take much longer."

So can Ganondorf only truly be slain by the Master Sword?

Well, it's hard to say, because we haven't seen him killed by anything other than the Master Sword (except his Hyrule Warriors self, who is killed by the Triforce).
It's possible, seeing as how that weapon is the only thing that seems to work on him in Wind Waker and during the second phase of the Ganon fight in Ocarina of Time, and Valoo's fire was unable to kill him, but let's also remember that he's immortal as long as he has the Triforce of Power, as he survives being stabbed in the face with the Master Sword in Ocarina of Time when he has the ToP, but after giving it up to form the Triforce in Wind Waker, a stab to the head with the Master Sword kills him. Also, in Twilight Princess he is "executed" with a blade that isn't the Master Sword, and only the Triforce of Power keeps him alive (though again, once the ToP leaves him it's still a stab from the Master Sword that kills him) KillRoy231 (talk) 07:56, March 6, 2017 (UTC)

Ganon has been killed by other weapons. In some of the early games, he was killed with the Silver Arrow. In the Oracle games, it is technically possible (but difficult) to kill him with any sword, even the Wooden Sword.
Right, I forgot about the Downfall Timeline, the original series of games where Ganon gets killed in the first game and is resurrected in the Oracle games. KillRoy231 (talk) 06:55, March 15, 2017 (UTC)
