Flying Tiles are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They are trick floor tiles that rise up, spin, and hurl themselves at Link. They can easily be defeated by either slashing them once with the sword, by deflecting them with a shield, or simply evading and letting them smash against the walls. Being simple tiles, it is questionable as to whether Flying Tiles are sentient enemies or just enchanted tiles cursed by evil magic.

Appearances Edit

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Edit

Flying Tile (A Link to the Past)

Flying Tiles appear in many dungeons, including the Tower of Hera. These tiles attack Link one at a time, leaving a skull and crossbones insignia on the ground where they once lay. Occasionally, all Flying Tiles in a room will have to be destroyed in order to unlock a door. If Link stands in a doorway, he can avoid any Flying Tiles, allowing them to ricochet harmlessly off the wall.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening Edit

Flying Tile (Link's Awakening)

Flying Tiles retain their normal attack; however, here, they usually leave a hole in the floor when they rise to bombard Link.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Edit

Flying Tiles are found exclusively in the Fire Temple. They crumble instantly upon contact with a shield.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages & Oracle of Seasons Edit

Flying Tile (Oracle of Ages and Seasons)

Flying Tiles act in similar fashion to their Link's Awakening appearance.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Edit

Tiles rise from the ground and fly toward Link in an attempt to hit him. They can be dispatched with a sword slash or with the shield.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures Edit

Flying Tiles appear in various dungeons. They cannot be deflected and must be dodged.
