The Flame Lantern is an item from The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. It allows Link to see in dark areas, light torches, burn grass, and melt ice. It can be used to burn the bandages of a Gibdo, revealing a regular Stalfos underneath. It is obtained in the Temple of Droplets. Unlike most other Lanterns in the series, the Flame Lantern requires neither magic nor Lantern Oil to produce flames. It will also kill an Ice Wizzrobe instantly. It is used mainly against the Temple of Droplets' boss, Big Octorok. The Octorok will convert between two forms; a warmer phase in shallow water and an ice phase on frozen ice. During the ice phase, Link must set the tail of the boss on fire with the Lantern. During the warmer phase, when the Octorok is close to death, it will begin to darken the room and make it necessary to have the Flame Lantern out in order to dodge the Octorok's attacks and the falling rocks.
