The "Elegy of Emptiness" is a song from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. After Link defeats Igos du Ikana and his two guards in Ikana Castle, the King admits defeat and teaches the victor this song. When played, this song creates a still statue or "clone" for each single Link can transform into (with the exception being the Fierce Deity Link, who can't use the ocarina anyway), allowing switches to be pressed down.

The statues created are different in appearance to what Link looks like while in one of the forms. The Deku Scrub statue looks very similar to the twisted tree seen at the beginning of the game, while the Zora and Goron look like the people who Link received the masks from; the Goron hero Darmani and the Zora guitar player Mikau, respectively. Finally, his human statue looks like a distorted effigy of what appears to be Shigeru Miyamoto as a young Link. The Goron statue can hold down switches requiring a heavy weight, while the Deku statue is virtually useless.

Link can play the "Elegy of Emptiness" on his Ocarina of Time by playing Right-C, Left-C, Right-C, Down-C, Right-C, Up-C, Left-C. The actual pitches of the notes translate as follows: A, B, A, F, A, D, B.

[edit] Trivia

  • The background music of the Stone Tower appears to have some similarities with this song.
