[edit] Gameplay

A circular wall of flame departs from the user's body, traveling slowly outward until it fades away. This flame can light Torches, burn wood, or damage enemies. Link, as a child in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, learns this spell from the Great Fairy of Magic who lives near Hyrule Castle. He casts it by crouching down, punching his right fist through the air, and then slamming his left fist into the ground. Using this spell consumes 6 MP.

[edit] Origin

Link using Din's Fire

Fire is usually connected with the golden goddess Din, which may be why this spell is named after her. The spell may also use her power. According to the creation account from the Ocarina of Time manual, "Din, with her strong flaming arms, cultivated the land to create the earth." The manual from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past says that the "God of Power dyed the mountains red with fire and created land." Based on these statements, it can be presumed that either this spell's name figuratively refers to Din's fire from the creation account, or the spell really does use Din's power to create flame.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee Princess Zelda can use an attack that is also called Din's Fire. When using it, Zelda will create an orb of fire and shoot it towards any direction the player guides it. Then, she can create a small fiery explosion that damages all nearby enemies. Zelda's other moves are named after the other two spells in Ocarina of Time, Nayru's Love and Farore's Wind. Zelda returns with the same moveset in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
