The Deku Toad, also known as the Deku Frog, is the mini-boss of the Lakebed Temple, the third dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It is a large, carnivorous amphibian native to Lake Hylia, and the guardian of the Clawshot. Link eventually fights and kills it by attacking its weak spot: its tongue. Upon its defeat, the Deku Toad spits out a chest containing the Clawshot.

Battle

When Link enters the Deku Toad's large, circular arena, several Toadoes fall from the ceiling and attack Link. Link must look upwards to the ceiling to cause the amphibious titan to leap down and engage the hero. The Deku Toad attacks by spawning more Toadoes, and by jumping upwards and attempting to crush Link under its own body weight. To stun the the Deku Toad, Link can either fire a Bomb Arrow or throw a bomb at its tongue or wait until it jumps and dodge it as it falls. Once the Deku Toad is stunned, Link has to slash at its tongue until the Deku Toad recovers or is defeated.
Midna refuses to offer much advise during the battle due to being grossed out, and will get mad if Link calls her out for help.

Due to the similar appearances of the Water Toadpolis and Toadoes, and their similarity to real toads, some theorize that the Deku Toad is the final stage of maturity for Toadoes.
