Muzu is a character in Breath of the Wild. He is one of the Zora elders on the Zora council and the former teacher of Princess Mipha.

Biography

Muzu cared greatly for Mipha and, following her death, harbours a strong disdain for Hylians, feeling that they were responsible for the events of the Great Calamity.[1] Muzu also holds Hylians responsible for Mipha’s death, specifically. When Link arrives in the Zora Domain and meets with King Dorephan, Muzu protests the king’s request for Link’s assistance in appeasing the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. Muzu is especially upset when King Dorephan gifts Zora amor crafted by Mipha to Link. King Dorephan had tasked Muzu with helping Link, but the old Zora storms off after Link receives the armor.

Prince Sidon explains to Muzu that Mipha loved Link,[2] but Muzu vehemently resists the notion. He reluctantly promises that he will help Link only if he is presented with proof of Mipha’s feelings for him. Only after seeing Link wearing the amor, which fits the Hylian perfectly, does Muzu realize that Mipha did indeed make the amor for Link and keeps his promise.

When Link returns to King Dorephan’s throne room after appeasing Vah Ruta, Muzu apologizes for his behaviour and acknowledges Link's noble intentions. He concedes that the he, and the other members of the Zora council, may have misunderstood Hylians and asks for Link's forgiveness.
