The Crown Dungeon is the fifth Dungeon in Oracle of Ages.[1] It is located on Rolling Ridge in the present.

Entrance to the Dungeon[]

The entrance to the Crown Dungeon is built into the rock wall of a cliff in the northern Rolling Ridge. When Link first stumbles upon the entrance to the dungeon, it will be locked. The key to open the lock, called the Crown Key, is obtained from the Goron Elder after Link frees him from the giant boulder under which he was trapped.[2] This is accomplished using the Bomb Flower he obtained earlier from defeating the Great Moblin.[3][4]

Themes and Navigation[]

As with almost every other dungeon in Oracle of Ages, the Crown Dungeon is named after the shape of its first floor, which resembles a crown. It is one of only two dungeons in the game to features the red and blue barrier and Crystal Switches puzzle, the other being the Ancient Tomb. Most of the dungeon centers on this particular puzzle element. The mini-boss of the dungeon is Smasher. The main item of the dungeon is the Cane of Somaria, which is essential to defeat the dungeon's boss, Smog. Once Link has defeated Smog, he will receive another Heart Container and the Sacred Soil, the fifth Essence of Time.
