Chu Jellies are recurring items in the Legend of Zelda series. Chu Jelly are globs of powerful magical or medicinal gel that are left in the wake of a defeated ChuChu or Chu, gelatinous enemies in their own right. Usually, the color of the Chu Jelly (and thus, its innate properties) dropped is the same color as the enemy that dropped it, but occasionally, certain varieties of ChuChus drop Chu Jelly of a different color. Chu Jelly has different properties depending on the game they appear in. Also, Link can consume Chu Jelly either raw or after it has been prepared.
[edit] Appearances
[edit] The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Three different kinds of Chu Jelly can be kept in Link's Spoils Bag; red, blue and green. When blobs of Chu Jelly are taken to Doc Bandam on Windfall Island, he can make potion from the different varieties of Chu Jelly: Red Chu Jelly makes Red Potion, that restores health; Green Chu Jelly restores magic and Blue Chu Jelly restores both health and the magic meter. Chu Jelly can also be sold to Beedle for a small profit.
[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Upon the defeat of a Chu, Link can use a bottle on the pools of Chu Jelly it leaves behind to store it in the bottle before it slowly dissolves. Once stored in a bottle, Chu Jelly can be consumed, causing various effects depending upon the source of Chu Jelly.
In all, five different kinds of Chu Jelly can be obtained: the most common being Red Chu Jelly, that restores some of Link's health. Blue Chu Jelly restores all of Link's health, as there is no magic meter in Twilight Princess. Yellow Chu Jelly has the same consistency and function as Lantern Oil, and can both be stored in a bottle and used to directly fill up Link's lamp if he presses the button it is equipped to near the dissolving jelly. Purple Chu Jelly has different effects, same as the Nasty Soup, and may even lower Link's health to half a heart if consumed. Finally, there is Rare Chu Jelly, a shining substance that restores all of Link's health and grants boosted attack power (similar in effect to Great Fairy's Tears) until Link takes damage or a certain amount of time has passed. The Rare Chu Jelly looks similar to Yellow Chu Jelly, except that it sparkles and has a slightly golder coloration.
Technically, Green Chu Jelly also appears in Twilight Princess; however, they can only be obtained through a glitch in the Wii version of the game. Rarely, yellow and blue Chu merge, creating Green Chu Jelly; however, since there is no magic meter, it does not have any effect.
