In Oracle of Seasons, the Star-Shaped Ore was one of five special types of Ore Link found in Subrosia. Link found the Star-Shaped Ore among the sands of the Subrosian beach, so he could buy a Ribbon for Rosa, allowing him to unlock a door in the Temple of Seasons and get the Power of Summer.
