Bob-ombs are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. Bob-ombs are explosive bomb-like enemies that, when attacked, light their fuses and run around wildly before exploding and harming Link, should he be in the vicinity of the blast. Two good ways to avoid being harmed by the resulting explosion are to either use a shield to block the explosion or shooting it with an arrow to detonate it immediately.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening Edit

Bob-ombs appear within certain dungeons. When hit with a weapon, a Bob-omb will start smiling and following Link. After a short while, it will count down from three. Once the countdown is finished, it explodes and damages Link if he is in the blast zone.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Edit

Bob-ombs appear in numerous areas of the game, beginning with certain portions of the Chambers of Insight. When struck with the Four Sword, they will fall into a dormant, blue state. If struck again, their fuses will ignite and they will run about the room until they explode, sometimes damaging the four Links. When they are in their blue state, they are prone to being picked up and utilized in a similar fashion to regular bombs.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap Edit

Bob-ombs appear in several locations, such as the Cave of Flames, Palace of Winds, and Dark Hyrule Castle. When hit, they will light their fuse and begin running around randomly. Bob-ombs can only be defeated instantly by shooting it with an arrow, all other methods to defeat them (excluding the Gust Jar) will simply cause them to start running around. Hitting them while they are running around will cause them to stop moving and allow Link to pick them up and throw them, like a regular Bomb. The use of the Gust Jar is smart as Link can grab them safely, then launch them at enemies or walls that can be destroyed by a Bomb

Bob-ombs make cameo appearances in the Legend of Zelda games and are originally enemies from the Super Mario Bros. series of games created by Nintendo.
