Biri are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They are small bio-electric jellyfish. They are most often produced when a Bari is attacked, but occasionally they appear alone. These enemies are easily dispatched with ranged weapons like the Boomerang or Hookshot.

[edit] Appearances

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Biri appear only once Link defeats a Red Bari. They are much smaller than their parent Bari, but have the same attack pattern. They hover above the ground, moving slowly, and at intervals charge their bio-electric fields, shocking Link if he hits them with his sword.

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Biri are found Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly. They float through the air towards Link, and upon hitting him, they deliver a bio-electric shock and subsequently retreat out of reach. They are vulnerable to the Kokiri Sword, but Link is shocked if he hits one. They are immune to the Slingshot, but once he obtains the Boomerang, it can kill Biri from a safe distance. Additionally, if Link uses a Deku Nut near a Biri, it will be temporarily stunned, allowing Link to safely attack it with his sword. While carrying Princess Ruto through the dungeon, she can also be thrown at them to deal damage.

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Biri can only be found in the Lakebed Temple. They are found floating around large pools of water and underwater caverns. If Link gets too near to them they will electrocute him when they touch. But after Link gets the Clawshot he can pull out thier innards and defeat them. If he uses the Clawshot while the Biri is producing electricity, however, the electricity will move down the Clawshot to Link and electrocute his as if he had directly touched the Biri.

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Biri are found floating above the ocean when sailing around the World of the Ocean King. Since they are not techically enemies, they can't do any damage to Linebeck's ship. They will pop out of the ocean at random times and slowly drift towards the water. Each time they are shot with the Cannon, they will drop one green Rupee and float upwards a couple feet to slow their descent, allowing them to be shot once again. This process will continue for as long as the player can keep the Biri above the water. Occasionally, they will split, allowing the player to have a maximum of three Biri onscreen at one time.
