Bari are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. Bari are bio-electrical jellyfish that are found within caverns and dungeons. Their exact characteristics differ between games, but they are usually able to hover. Some Bari, when attacked, split into two smaller jellyfish called Biri.

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

A Blue Bari
Bari inhabit caves and every dungeon in the Dark World. These Bari have semi-spherical bodies with stubby tentacles. They come in two versions; blue and red. They move slowly, and can damage Link by electrocuting him with bio-electric energy. They can only charge up and release the energy for a short while before having to re-charge again.
A Red Bari

If Link touches one while it is releasing electricity, he will be electrocuted and take damage. Any sword attacks will also give Link a shock in this state. The blue ones can be defeated with a single sword attack. When defeated, red Bari split into two Biri when slain with most weapons, although the Fire Rod will kill them without them splitting up. The Hookshot is particularly effective at defeating both varieties of Bari from a safe distance.

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Bari in Ocarina of Time are parasitic jellyfish that only appear Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly. More uncommon than Biri, Bari are larger and heavier, and have two scythe-like tentacles. They fall from the ceiling with a crash and then move towards Link, whirling. Once attacked, they split into three Biri. If Link throws the Boomerang at a Bari, it will only be stunned. If Link tries to damage one with his sword, he is electrocuted. However, the damage to the Bari still occurs.

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages

Bari appear in Jabu-Jabu's Belly. Their attacking style is virtually identical to that of Bari from A Link to the Past.

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Bari in Twilight Princess are aquatic, and immune to most weapons. They attack by activating their bio-electric field as he swims past. They can only be killed by having their brains pulled out with the Clawshot.
