"A fossilized resin with a caramelesque sheen to it. It's been valued as a component in decorations and crafting since ancient times."
— In-game description

Amber is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Most commonly found in Ore Deposits, though it can also be obtained from defeated Pebblits as well as all Stone Talus (Frost & Igneo Talus are the only Talus that do not drop it). Additionally if can also be found if Link searches broken wagon carts. Cottla occasionally rewards Link after beating her in a game of tag or hide-in-seek. Link can also sometimes find them hidden under rocks or in pots. Interestingly, two of the rocks in the yard of Link's House occasionally have Amber under them. Link can sell it for Rupees, use it to upgrade armor, or to create Amber Earrings at Starlight Memories. Ten pieces are required during the side quest "The Jewel Trade". The normal sell price for Amber is 30 Rupees. When selling ten ambers to the jewel trader, Link obtains 500 Rupees, rather than 300 Rupees. It is used to upgrade the Hylian Hood, Tunic and Trousers set, as well as create and upgrade the Amber Earrings. According to the Earring's description, Amber can harness the power of the land to increase defense.

As it can be found so commonly in various ways, it is the most common of all Gemstones (as Flint is a mineral stone no a gem).
