[edit] Biography

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

In his youth, Alfonzo associated with Hyrulean Soldiers and became an adept swordsman. Later, he became a train engineer and the title of Master Engineer was eventually bestowed upon him. Alfonzo sometimes wields a two-handed saber.

When Princess Zelda and Link flee Hyrule Castle to find the reason behind the disappearing Spirit Tracks, Alfonzo accompanies them. During the train ride however, Chancellor Cole appears and defeats Alfonzo and Link. With these two out of the way, Cole and his second-in-command murder Princess Zelda and take her lifeless body with them.

Spoiler warning: Spoilers end here.

[edit] Etymology

Alfonzo bears a striking resemblance to Gonzo, one of Tetra's Pirates, and his name may in fact be derived from this character.
