She communicates with to him through a large [[Nintendo DS]]-looking contraption in his house, and the [[Tingle Tuner]] when he is traveling. Most of the contact between the two is when Tingle arrives in a new area, and before facing a [[dungeon]] [[boss]]. Pinkle wears an outfit which appears to be a pink, feminine version of Tingle's.

Tingle first met Barkle at Sunshine Seashore on the First Continent. When you first meet Barkle you can sell him all your bones for two rupees each and he will leave the area. When Tingle met up with the Skeleton pirates Barkle showed up and scares the pirates, giving Tingle acess to their boat and an opportunity to join the them. While exploring the Pirate's Hideout, Tingle is informed of a vicious monster attacking the cook's assistant in the kitchen. Tingle is sent to deal with the monster, only to find out that it is only Barkle. Barkle shortly after leaves the hideout.<Br>

Barkle follows Tingle home and stumbles upon the Rupee Tower, and is transformed into a Tingle version of himself. Barkle then chooses to live with Tingle. Giving Barkle bones will cause him to go out and fetch [[rupee]]s and other items for Tingle.
